Questions You Might Have

Where should my ice sculpture be placed?
It's mostly a matter of preference. Some couples have them placed in the foyer or bar areas; some put them along side of the cake or as part of the gift table. They can also be placed on a separate table off to the side of the head table, on a buffet table, or on the sweet table. If you're still unsure, you could also ask the person you are working with at your reception facility where brides have placed them in the past. All we need is a standard skirted banquet type table with four legs (not a pedestal table).

What are the most popular sizes?
Most Ice Sculptures come in two popular sizes, a Full Block or a Half Block. Full Blocks measure 51" x 21" x 10", and Half Blocks are 28" x 21" x 10". However, sizes can vary based on the carving design. Larger sizes are also available and are very popular for that extra special touch.

How much will my ice carving weigh?
A full block of ice weighs approximately 365 lbs. However, when it is carved, a typical full block carving weighs about 255 lbs. and a half block about 120 lbs.

How long will my carving last?
At Dreams In Ice, we carve our ice sculptures to have a show life of 6 - 8 hours. This means at room temperature, it will take approximately that long for the detail to melt away. It would take almost 2 days for the carving to completely melt down.

What is included in the price of an ice sculpture?
Everything you need to appropriately and safely display your carving is included. A tray with a hose for drainage, a bucket for the water to drain into, a light to highlight the detail, fresh greenery or Mylar to accent the base, and timed delivery and set-up in the Chicagoland Area and Suburbs. The only thing not included is the sales tax. (Some delivery restrictions may apply.)

How far in advance do I have to order my ice sculpture?
You can place your sculpture order at any time that is convenient for you. However, full payment must be received at least one month prior to the event. We accept MasterCard, Visa, American Express, cashiers check, personal check or cash. Any last minute orders or additions are gladly welcome!
